Ukrainian Wedding Custom

Prior to the wedding ceremony, the groom ( svakhy and his family give gifts to the bride’s family in accordance with custom. The user’s name is pronounced when the best guy distributes the gifts. Love and eternity are all represented in gifts, from a liquor cup for fellowship to embroidered rushnyky.

The starosty, two friends or family members ( one from each edge), serve as the masters of ceremonies for the Ukrainian marriage service. They also introduce the pair to the church, bring the couple’s Virgin Mary and jesus images into the company, and hear the federation.

Families and relatives approach the couple during the ceremony, and they exchange slings as a sign of respect and give their grace. Additionally, they may give the couple metaphoric presents, such as wedding bread known as korovai or theological symbols.

The partners carries a rushnyk, an embroidered red linen, before the official wedding. This ties the pair to their predecessors and represents reproduction. In the partnership, it is said that the person who takes the first step on the rushnyk likely wear the pants.

Another fun part of ukrainian wedding is the Buyout a Bride>> ritual. This is when the groom asks his close friends to bring him a gift for the bride-to-be. In return for the gift, they must answer questions about her, usually praising her qualities. After that, the family hands her over to her soon-to-be husband.
