The main part of this announcement was to introduce a significant UI change codenamed Sun Valley. As we know, a significant part of the UX changes are borrowed from the Windows 10X environment, and Windows 10X is not coming to the market. Now, as expected, Windows 11 leaks are starting What’s new in Windows 11: – Windows 11 will get a completely new look. Microsoft clearly needs a good reason to refute its previous claims and still abandon Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. And the brand new design fits in perfectly with it. The Redmond giant has long been preparing a redesign for the update codenamed Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) – apparently, it went by this name Windows 11. The Sun Valley project has been flashing on the web for a long time – Microsoft regularly published details about the new interface style, insiders shared previously unknown information, and designers popular in their circles drew realistic concepts based on all this information. – Start and system elements float above the bottom bar. Start is the business card and face of all recent versions of Windows. It is not surprising that in Windows 11, developers are reworking it, but not so much functionally as visually – the Start window floats above the bottom bar. We must admit that this small change makes the system look much fresher. Judging by the information received on the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “insides” of this menu – the innovations affect only the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float, and its design will be exactly the same as the “Start”. The action center will be combined with the control buttons together – something similar has been used for a long time in some other operating systems. Almost all mentions of this new menu indicate that it is separate – the control buttons are in one separate panel, notifications in another, and certain elements (such as the player) in another. – Right angles will disappear, fillets will replace them. In reality, insiders and concept designers disagree on this – some are convinced that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will stick to right angles, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the fashion for fillets. The latter fits better into the definition of “all-new Windows” – floating menus alone are not enough for the new look to be considered truly new. The rotations are expected to affect practically everything in the system, from context menus and system bars to all application windows. It is true that even in this matter the opinions of designers differ – some draw curves on all possible elements of the user interface, others combine them with straight corners. – There is a translucent background and blur everywhere. The Internet disagrees about the island style of windows, the design of the corners and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the windows. Most of the design leaks and renders show transparency and blurriness in all windows, be it at least the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even in the configuration of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed on two monitors and weak devices in parallel with the Sun Valley project.
